Changing a Logical Device's RAID Level

You can change the RAID level of an existing logical device. You might want to do this to increase the capacity or performance of a logical device, add redundancy to a logical device, or to make disk drive space available for other uses.

Changing the RAID level normally requires one or more disk drives to be added or removed from the logical device. Adaptec Storage Manager will not allow you to continue unless you have the right number of disk drives available.

When you change the RAID level of an existing logical device, stored data is migrated across existing and new disk drives.
